Vocabulary

The vocabulary section is an appendix to Czech Language Guide. It is organized into categories for easier reading, with some categories also including useful phrases.

The words are displayed in sortable tables.

  • Nouns contain a gender identificator (Ma, Mi, F, N). A number (SG, PL) identificator is added when necessary.
  • Adjectives are listed in their masculine singular form.
  • Verbs are accompanied by their aspect specification (IMPF, PF)

You can browse the categories of your choice using the left panel or use the search field in the top-right corner to look up a word.

Feel free to use dictionaries for additional word searches. We recommend:

Beta (2025-08): Some Vocabulary pages include a Vocabulary test section, which allows users to review their knowledge. These pages are marked with the following icon .

Beta (2026-01): Some vocabulary pages contain a link that allows you to sort the tables by language. By default, the first column is in English, but it is possible to swap it so that the Czech column comes first.

Update (2026-02): The previously used links have now been replaced with toggle buttons placed above the relevant tables.

Beta (2026-02): Some pages now contain a feature allowing users to turn on Prirucka mode which displays Czech words with clickable links to Příručka (Czech Language Reference Book). These pages are marked with symbol 🄟 in the navigation.
